Punta Cana, La Altagracia. – Save the Children successfully celebrated the fifth edition of its traditional National Polo Tournament - Gulf Cup at the Puntacana Polo Club of Puntacana Resort & Club, this time dedicated to promoting literacy programs that contribute to the development of children and to polo players Federico Ramos, Nicolás Seliman, Víctor (Vitin) Hernández, Tony Delgado and Alejandro Tirado for their contributions and careers in the sport.

Puntacana Polo Team/ La Bienvenida won the Cup and the National Championship defeating La Patrona by 11 goals to 9 in a thrilling final match. The Cayacoa/ La Carmela team defeated the Barcelo Imperial team for 3rd place. Mauricio Bogaert was named "Most Valuable Player", the "Best Playing Horse" award was given to the mare "Claribel", owned by Juan Tomas Diaz; and polo players Praxila Trabatoni and Arianna van Schermbeek received recognition as female players of the Tournament.

The sporting event was attended by the teams La Patrona, La Carmela, Barceló Imperial, Rancho La Americana, Cayacoa, Puntacana Polo Team and La Bienvenida, who demonstrated their best skills in this friendly competition. In addition, the event was hosted by Reyson Pimentel, Ingrid Gómez and Marcelle Flores.

This edition was especially highlighted by the fashion show "La Estilista Runaway Experience" organized by renowned fashion stylist Deborah Karter. The fashion show featured the participation of the prestigious brands Santa Paloma, Maylé Vásquez, Casa Maraca, INDÓ MITA and Call Me Lola. The designs were complemented with jewelry by Dominican designer Mónica Varela and footwear by CASTAÑER espadrilles, achieving an impeccable resort chic style..

Juan Tomas Diaz, president of Save the Children Dominicana, thanked each of the veteran teams that participated in the elimination rounds, which played to promote the rights of children in the Dominican Republic.

"Our goal is for this meeting to become a reference of support for children, through activities and dynamics that promote their development. It fills us with great joy to be able to contribute to the education of these children and adolescents, contributing to improve their quality of life through teaching and educational improvement," said Diaz.

The funds raised will be used for emerging literacy and mathematics programs implemented in vulnerable communities in Elías Piña, El Seibo, San Pedro de Macorís and La Altagracia, focusing on basic education and the development of reading and comprehension skills in children from first to fourth grade.

The Puntacana Polo Club was attended by various personalities from the social and sports life who enjoyed the attentions of all the sponsors and the amenities installed for all families by the team of Save the Children in the Dominican Republic and Puntacana Resort & Club.

The tournament was held as part of a family polo day, attended by owners, residents and guests of Puntacana Resort & Club, who enjoyed an afternoon in Puntacana Resort & Club style, an exhibition of Higuey horses and musical entertainment.
