Polytechnic Shool

The school has eight classrooms equipped with computers as well as physics, chemistry and biology labs.

Students take general computing classes and are also trained on software applications commonly used in the workplace.

The school is developing new programs in plumbing, electrical wiring, informatics and hospitality and tourism.

Through a unique alliance with INFOTEP, the Institute for Technical Professional Development, the school offers hands-on training in refrigeration maintenance and repair.

In addition to academic facilities, the school has basketball and volleyball courts, a cafeteria and administrative offices.
Construction of a library began in 2006.

Total investment thus far exceeds $785,000 US.

Admission is merit based and tuition is nominal, in accordance with FPC’s commitment to sustainability and its desire to make education accessible to all local youth, regardless of family income.

The Catholic Church, Altagracia Diocese, operates the school with the cooperation of the Dominican Secretary of Education.
FACTS

GRUPO PUNTACANA, developer of PUNTACANA RESORT & CLUB inaugurated the Ann & Ted Kheel Polytechnic School in November 2004 as a tribute to the legendary New York labor mediator, Theodore. Ted W. Kheel, cofounder of PUNTACANA, and his late wife, Ann S. Kheel. Mrs. Who served on numerous educational commissions in the United States .

The school is another example of the company's strong commitment to social and environmental responsibility in the area. Located just a few miles from the resort, the high school is already serving 200 students from the towns of the Veron, Bavaro, Cortecito and Cabeza de Toro. With a total investment of $785,000, the chemistry and biology labs. There are also basketball and volleyball courts, administrative offices, a cafeteria and restrooms. The second phase of the school will commence early in 2006 and will include the construction of a library, four additional classrooms and workshops.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dominican President Dr. Leonel Fernández Reyna; Secretary of Education Alejandrina Germán and GRUPO PUNTACANA founders Ted Kheel and Frank Rainieri as well as their partners, Oscar de la Renta, Julio Iglesias, students, faculty, friends and family.

The opening ceremony of this polytechnic school is one of the socially important projects being developed by GRUPO PUNTACANA, whereby poor children and teenagers from different nearby communities in the area can get quality education.
