ECOLOGICAL
RESERVE AND PARK
One of PUNTACANA Resort & Club’s most unique features is our 1500 acre Ecological Reserve and Ecological Park. It offers rare chances to see unspoiled tropical foliage, brilliantly colored birds, and undisturbed native animal life. But the Reserve is much more than beautiful sights, it is an embodiment of our mission to preserve the Dominican Republic’s magnificent natural treasures while allowing visitors to experience their beauty and richness.
ECOLOGICAL FOUNDATION

To preserve flora and fauna in our tropical paradise, GRUPO PUNTACANA has created the PUNTACANA ECOLOGICAL FOUNDATION. With a 10-million square meter land donation destined as ecological reserve, this subtropical area has been declared as private forest and is protected and taken care of as a natural treasure.

A road has been created so that visitors may appreciate this unique beauty - mangles, crystalline water springs and rare endemic species - all preserved in their natural state. The discovery of an Indian cemetery in the area commits us to preserve this important evidence of native culture, which settled in this island centuries ago. Future projects of the Foundation include the creation of a museum, which will contribute to better knowledge of Taino’s life and customs.

In 1994, PUNTACANA RESORT & CLUB created the Ecological Foundation, with a 2,000- acre of natural reserve donation from GRUPO PUNTACANA. Dominican University INTEC, along with the Santo Domingo Botanical Garden, was the first to make an inventory of flora and fauna in the area. Today, the reserve is the home for the Center for Biodiversity and Sustainability.
